Introduction: For this project, you will design a birdhouse or bird feeder in TinkerCAD using the Engineering Design Process while documenting your work and findings.
Define Questions: Pick one question to start your process.
Specific bird or area?
Prevent other animals from using?
Save print material?
Prevent the need for support?
Theme?
Incorporate recycled materials?
Requirements:
Some or all parts of your birdhouse must be a 3D printed
All 3D printed parts must be designed by you in TinkerCAD
Birdhouse parts may not take longer than 2 hours to print. You may print as many pieces as you like.
Design Process: Each step must be documented with one or more slides that may include text, images, or video. NOTE! The questions below are helpful suggestions, they are NOT required.
Step 1 Define
What do you want to do, make, explore???
What will you be researching?
Are there any restrictions?
What are some questions you have?
What do you already know?
Why did you pick this question?
2pts Labeled - A title is visible with "Define"
2pts Images - 2 or more images related to the project are included
4pts Text - Student wrote about the topic with detail they will be working with for this project. Students are encouraged to use the questions above but are not required to answer any or all of them. Your writing can be in list form but must be understandable by someone not familiar with this project.
2pts Design - The use of images, text placement, and formatting show conscious choices.

Step 2 Research
Find images, websites, videos
What have other people done
How will you use this information for your own project?
2pts Labeled - A title is visible with "Research"
2pts Images - 2 or more images related to the project are included
4pts Text - Student write about what they learned IN THEIR OWN WORDS based on their research. Research can include images, text, videos, etc...
2pts Sources - Links to ALL OF THE SOURCES are included in the slide

Step 3 Prototype
Images of your own work.
What did you make?
Problems along the way?
2pts Labeled - A title is visible with "Prototype" on TWO SLIDES
4pts First Slide - Parts & Notes
-This slide show your designed object in separate PARTS
- 2 Images minimum (you should be using more)
- Includes ARROWS and NOTES describing features and their function
4pts Second Slide - Assembled & Preview
-This slide shows your design "put together" as it would appear in real life
-Note. Use stand-in's for any recycled or non-3d-printed objects
-2 images minimum

Step 4 Feedback / Reflection / Test
Did it work? Why or why not?
Add comments from the class.
2pts Labeled - A title is visible with "Feedback" on one or more slides
8pts First Slide -
-Include images from prototype or stock images
-Include notes about what you believe will work for this design
-Include notes about what will possibility fail for this design
-Include comments from the class, friends, or family about your design

Step 5 Improve
What would you change? Why?
Document New prototype.
Point out key changes / upgrades
2pts Labeled - A title is visible with "Improve" on one or more slides
8pts First Slide -
-Images of old design side by side new design
-Notes / arrows / circles / annotation
-Explanation of what was improved and WHY
