Your calipers are rulers ARE IN INCHES
Make your DESIGN USING INCHES
Create your sketch starting in the FRONT VIEW. We will be rotating this design so it needs to be started in the front viewing plane.
Using a CENTER POINT RECTANGLE
Create a square
Use the DIMENSION TOOL
Set the height and length to 4.5in
This will be our maxing sketching area for our spinner top (the maxing print area of an Afinia H400 3D printer)
Use the LINE TOOL
Draw a line evenly down the middle
This line will be used later to revolve our sketch around to create a 3D object.
Draw your spinner on HALF of the drawing space. We will revolve the drawing to create a 3D object in the later step.
Draw HALF of the hole for the spinner rod.
Remember that you will need to dimension HALF of the diameter of the hole
Make the bottom of the hole a point (this will prevent the need for support structures)
Exit the sketch. Use the revolve button.
This tool will FIRST ask you to select the surfaces you want to revolve.
The revolve tool has a SECOND STEP.
You will need to click the box in the pop-up called "revolve axis" then you will select the line we made down the middle of the drawing (our mirror line).
Make a blueprint!
Set the corner view to SHADED
Set the front and right views to SHOW HIDDEN LINES
Dimension the hole for the rod
Dimension the MAX HEIGHT and MAX WIDTH
Remember to export with MILLIMETERS!
