(You will need to create an account!)
For this goal, you need to design a hole that will securely hold a wooden dowel!
Dowel must push into the hole .5-inches
Dowl can NOT be removed by hand after inserted
Hole shape can vary (does not have to be round)
For this goal, you need to design a drilling jig.
Jig must hold the dowel flat without shifting
Jig must hold the drill bit upright
Jig must have some way to be clamped to wood
Instructions:
Welcome! Using the skill you have honed in the last project you will try to complete two goals! Making a press-fit hole for a dowel and making a drill jig.
This is a TEAM PROJECT. Feel free to SHARE your images and blueprints with your partner.
The only thing you can not share is the writing portion (Mastery) where you will individually write about the process or what you learned!
Rubric:
4pts Goal 1 Press Fit (easy)
1 photograph (on a clean surface) of print and inserted dowel
Hole is at least .5 inches deep
1 blueprint of 3D design with at least 3 dimensions
4pts Goal 2 Drill Jig (hard)
1 photograph (on a clean surface) of print with drillbit and dowel
Metal drillbit is supported completely upright
Plastic drill jig can be secured using a red clamp
1 blueprint of 3D design with at least 3 dimensions
2pts Mastery. 110 words is written about your successes and/or failures (write about what you learned).

*Below are Mr. Aktas's example objects. Your design CAN BE ANYTHING as long as it works.
Your calipers are rulers ARE IN INCHES
Make your DESIGN USING INCHES
During this project you will need to Design & Test!
You may have to make several changes to your design before you complete the goal.
The image to the left shows Mr. Aktas's design progress.
You will need to measure at least three objects in order to complete both project goals! Use the dial calipers!
It is recommended that you write down your measurements but not required.
Design your objects TO PRINT FAST
Don't make your objects too thick or it will bog down your design and test process.
Aim for 5min prints!
Watch this video (no sound)
Make your print DENSE --> Its not a decorative print
Make your Layer Thickness HIGH --> We want to print and test these objects quickly
NO RAFT --> Your printer is calibrated*
*USE SOME GLUE FOR ALL PRINTS (just a little bit)
