The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) is an international organization of professional, collegiate, and pre-college engineers. Marian Anderson established a NSBE junior chapter in 2024. Membership is open to all students in grades K-8.
On Tuesdays from 3:30 to 4:30 after school, members of the Marian Anderson NSBE Jr. leadership council meet to plan events, learn from guest speakers, and participate in engineering activities.
Sign ups are now live for fall 2025 after school clubs in the Wildcat Workshop.

Students in our NSBE Jr. leadership council built an underwater rover after school and participated in the Sea Perch competition in March 2025. Special thanks to Harper's sister, Ms. Cassidy, for mentoring our team after school. Additional thanks to Adin's mom for facilitating a debrief of the competition in prepared for next year!
Alongside Mr. G's Civil Engineering club, members of our NSBE jr. leadership council visited the Fairmount Water Works to learn about how our city gets its water (past and present). Special thanks to Miles's mom and dad for chaperoning.
An architect (Owen's dad) and an engineer visited with our leadership council after school to provide an overview of how buildings are designed and constructed.
