Members of the Ryder Cup Grandstand Marshal Committee will be responsible for monitoring the Grandstands and assisting with the spectator flow in and out to help provide a pleasurable and safe atmosphere. Volunteers will help manage gallery noise and maintain control of the crowd during play while allowing the Players to compete under fair conditions without interference.
The basic function of the committee is to provide a fair and safe environment for the competition.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AS A GRANDSTAND MARSHAL:
It will be the Grandstand Marshals’ duty to politely instruct spectators to stand still and manage the control of the crowd during the play.
2 - ENFORCE THE GRANDSTAND POLICY
Assist with the spectator flow in and out of the Grandstands, provide a pleasurable and safe atmosphere for all spectators while allowing players to compete under fair conditions without interference.
If an evacuation is needed (usually due to weather), Grandstand Marshals will help direct the gallery to the nearest evacuation area.
The Grandstand Marshals will be responsible for clearing spectators from the course and then quickly seeking shelter.
Our Ryder Cup spectators are given written communication that they should contact the nearest Volunteer if they need medical assistance. As our Marshal Committee makes up nearly half of our Volunteer Team, they will need to be ready to assist when called upon.
Although cell phones are allowed at the Ryder Cup, they may only be used in accordance to the Ryder Cup Mobile Device Policy. Marshals will be responsible for assisting in the enforcement of this policy by reminding spectators of proper usage.
WE ARE SO EXCITED "FORE" YOU TO BE A GRANDSTAND MARSHAL!
