Studying from home can be very challenging and it's sometimes hard to maintain motivation and concentration! Below are some tips to help you stay focused:
Mark the start and the end of your 'college day' with a ritual, this could be a short walk/ 10 minutes of online exercise/ a cup of tea in the garden.
Set up your work station with everything you need (text books/ water) and move distractions away or turn them off.
Arrange your work into manageable chunks and take breaks between them.
Reward yourself with something that makes you happy when you have achieved a good chunk of study. This could be a delicious treat or a quick chat with a friend.
If you are struggling to get started, then set an alarm for 10 minutes and say to yourself that you are just going to work for this time. Chances are that once you get started you will keep going!
5 top tips for effective exam revision:
Start early
Your brain needs time to absorb information, it's never too early to start preparing for your exams. Don't leave it until the last minute!
Plan your time
Failing to prepare is preparing to fail. Make a revision schedule and stick to it to ensure you know what you need to revise and when.
Avoid distractions
Put your phone away and turn the TV off! Make sure your family know you need quiet time too.
Practise
Completing mock exams, past papers and practise questions are a great way of testing your knowledge and helping you prepare for the real thing.
Take breaks
You can only focus on a set task for so long. Taking regular breaks will give your brain the time it needs to relax between periods of high concentration.
Why set goals?
