Students who plan to teach Music at the middle or high school level should complete a degree in music that includes the following courses.

• MUS 312 Orchestration (3 credits)

• MUS 320, 321, 322 Fundamental, Instrumental, Choral Conducting (6 credits total)

• MUED 328 Introduction to Music Education (2 credits)

• MUED 332 String Techniques (1 credit)

• MUED 333 Guitar Techniques* (1 credit)

• MUED 334 Vocal Techniques, k-12 (1 credit)

• MUED 335 Percussion Techniques (1 credit)

• MUS 474 MIDI Applications* (2 credits)

• MUED 484 Music with Children (3 credits)

Required for instrumental specialists

• MUED 336 Flute/Double Reed Techniques (1 credit)

• MUED 337 Clarinet/Sax Techniques (1 credit)

• MUED 338 High Brass Techniques (1 credit)

• MUED 339 Low Brass Techniques (1 credit)

• MUED 341 Jazz Techniques (1 credit)

• MUED 422 Instrumental Literature and Rehearsal Techniques I (3 credits)

• MUED 423 Instrumental Literature and Rehearsal Techniques II (3 credits)

• MUS 409 Marching Band Practicum (2 credits)

Required for choral/general specialists

• MUS 340 Wind Instrument Techniques (3 credits)

• MUS 408 Kodaly or Orff (5 credits)
