Math-Foundational
Students who plan to teach foundational math at the middle or high school level should complete a bachelor's degree that includes a minor in Math for Middle School teachers.
Only grades of C- or above count toward the requirements, and no more than three courses with a grade of P are eligible.
Requirements for Middle School Mathematics Minor
This mathematics minor is intended for those who plan to enter the Graduate Teacher Education Program (GTEP) and be endorsed to teach foundational mathematics. For transfer students, at least 9 of these credits must be taken at PSU.

MTH 211, 212, 213 Foundations of Elementary Mathematics I, II, III (12 credit sequence)
MTH 491 Experimental Probability and Statistics for Middle School Teachers (4 credits)
MTH 493 Geometry for Middle School Teachers (4 credits)
MTH 494 Arithmetic and Algebraic Structures for Middle School Teachers (4 credits)
MTH 495 Historical Topics in Mathematics for Middle School Teachers (4 credits)
MTH 496 Concepts of Calculus for Middle School Teachers (4 credits)
MTH 497 Teaching and Learning in the Middle School Mathematics Classroom (4 credits)
Total: 36 credits
