Bilingual Teacher Pathway
The BTP program recruits and prepares bilingual and bicultural individuals to become licensed elementary school teachers with their bachelor's degree.
Students earn a bachelor's in Liberal Studies.
Program Structure
Students must apply and be accepted into the BTP program as a Junior
Once-a-year admissions for Fall term
Cohort model—takes a minimum of 2 years to complete sequence of requirements
Evening classes
Required summer term between Junior and Senior years
Student teaching required in Senior year
Graduates earn a Preliminary Teaching License, and a Dual-Language Specialization OR an ESOL endorsement
Be bilingual and bicultural
Junior class standing (90+ credits)
Required Courses (Must have grades of B- or better):
MTH 211, 212, 213 (Foundations of Elementary Math I, II, III)
Applicants will need to submit a resume, essay, and three letters of recommendation
