Get Your PSU Email. Be sure to log into your PSU email account: my.pdx.edu, click PSU Gmail.
Include your Student ID Number when emailing PSU officials. Occasionally check the Spam folder too.
You MUST regularly check your PSU email! Important messages regarding financial aid, registration, degree requirements, graduation, etc., will ONLY be sent to your PSU email account once it is created. If you miss information sent there, significant problems will result!
Get Financial Aid. If you are using financial aid, please make sure you have reviewed the CCJ Online Financial Aid Checklist for new students. This has important information you will need to be aware of and lists steps you will need to complete.
Get Oriented. PSU and CCJO require all incoming students to watch the CCJO New Student Orientation webinar and complete the Orientation Quiz in order to be cleared to register for courses.
To access the Orientation and Quiz, you will need your Odin login username and password: oam.pdx.edu.
Once you have set up your Odin Account, please click this link to access the Orientation and Quiz:
Get Registered. After you complete the CCJ Online New Student Orientation and Quiz, you will be cleared to register for classes. When the process is complete, you will receive an email notifying you that you can now register (and how to register). The message will include a CCJ Online Registration Guide.
Use the CCJ Online Registration Guide to pick your classes. It has course-by-course information and tips from your Academic Advisor to help guide your choices.
Your Academic Advisor will be in touch with you before the term starts, but you should not wait to register unless you are having trouble choosing classes.
Get Up to Speed. Your classes will be in PSU's online learning system, Canvas.
Available here: my.pdx.edu, click Canvas
CCJ Online provides its students with a short, self-paced mini Canvas course to (1) show you how Canvas works and (2) provide you with important information necessary for your success in the program.
Complete the CCJO Quick Start Mini Course before classes start. You will need your PSU ODIN account and password. You will receive an email with instructions close to the start of the term on how to enter the classroom once you are granted access.
Get Your Books. Make sure you have ordered your textbooks as soon as possible after you register. CCJ Online courses are accelerated and you will be at a considerable disadvantage if you do not have your books before the start of classes.
Watch your PSU email for your CCJ Online Registration Guide. This guide will list all the courses offered for the coming term, as well as the textbooks required for each course.
To purchase books, you may use the Portland State Online Bookstore or any online bookseller using the ISBN numbers provided in your CCJ Online Registration Guide.
Get a Refund. To ensure you are able to get a full 100% refund of the charges for any courses you need to drop, you must manually drop the classes during the first week of the term. This deadline applies to ALL CCJO classes regardless of whether the coursework takes place in the first or second five weeks of the term. PSU does not automatically drop students for non-attendance. You can drop through my.pdx.edu, Academics, Registration Hub. See the CCJO Drop Policy.
Get to Class. On the first day of class, log into Canvas. Available here: canvas.pdx.edu, review your syllabus, due dates and course requirements. Follow any instructions provided in the class and contact your professor right away if you have any questions.
Students are granted access to online classes on the course's official first day.
Most CCJO courses are open for students to access on the Friday before the new term begins to offer a head start.
You should preview all of your CCJO courses and make any final decisions on what to take or not take during the term's first week, including any that don't begin until the second session.
Get Your Degree. Before your first term, your Academic Advisor will be in touch to help you plan your degree pathway through to graduation. You will receive a personalized Degree Requirements Checklist and Degree Map to consult as you move through the program. These CCJO New Student Advising Materials will be sent to your PSU email. When you receive them, you must follow the included instructions to confirm that you have reviewed the materials. If this confirmation is not done, a hold preventing future registration will be placed upon your account.
You should also know how to run and read your Degree Audit Report (DARS). Make sure you understand what you will need to complete to receive your degree and/or certificates. If you don’t understand something, ask for help!
Get Help. Your CCJO Enrollment Advisor, Chelsey Huff, will help you get oriented & registered for your first term in CCJ Online. After that, your CCJO Academic Advisor, Angela Barrett, will work with you as you move through the rest of the program.
Your CCJO Enrollment Advisor can be reached at CCJO@pdx.edu; 503-725-9296, or schedule an appointment.
