Students choose whether to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in CCJ or a Bachelor of Science in CCJ.
In order to earn the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), students must complete the following:
the B.A. Second Language Competency
3 cr in Fine and Performing Arts
7 cr in Arts and Letters
3 cr in Science / Mathematics / Statistics
7 cr in Social Science or Science
For the B.A. Second Language Competency Requirement, students must prove that they have the equivalent knowledge that is normally attained after two years of college study in a second language.
For students with no prior experience in another language that may mean taking as much as two years of college-level classes (6 classes, 24 cr: 101-103 & 201-203) in order to reach & complete the 203-level class that satisfies the requirement. High school level work is not acceptable for this requirement.
PSU currently teaches the following languages online: French & Spanish.
101 / 201 is only offered online during Fall, with 102 / 202 online during Winter & 103 / 203 online during Spring.
Students who already fluently speak, read & write in a language other than English may be able to test out of the requirement using a proficiency exam. Students who completed high school in another country in a language other than English may be able to have the requirement waived. Students who receive a non-credit waiver will need to take an additional 3 cr in Arts & Letters. If you feel that one of these situations applies to you, then contact your Academic Advisor for more information.

Students are responsible for finding applicable classes using the PSU Schedule of Classes. Courses taken at community colleges may also be transferrable. If you plan to complete these requirements through another school, you MUST check with your Academic Advisor in advance when you find a class that interests you in order to receive verification that the class will transfer okay and work for PSU's requirement.
