Academic Standing & Inactive Policies

CCJ Online Academic Standing Policy

CCJ Online requires all admitted students to maintain Good Standing, per the PSU Academic Standing Policy.  To be in Good Standing at PSU, your cumulative PSU GPA must be a 2.00 or higher to remain in CCJO.  Your cumulative PSU GPA is based on just your PSU classes and does not include any transfer credits.

If your cumulative PSU GPA falls below 2.00, you will be placed on Academic Warning.

Academic Warning

CCJO students on Academic Warning have one term within which to return to Good Standing (i.e., raise their cumulative PSU GPA back to 2.00+).  A registration hold will prevent registration for more than one term while a student is on Academic Warning.

CCJO students on Academic Warning who are unable to return to Good Standing at PSU within one term will be dismissed from the CCJO program.  Since admission to CCJO and to PSU are not the same, students dismissed from CCJO are not necessarily dismissed automatically from PSU.

CCJO students dismissed under this policy may continue taking PSU classes outside of CCJO (including the CCJ campus program) unless they are notified by PSU of academic dismissal from the University.

It is important to know that all courses needed to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Sciences in Criminology and Criminal Justice are available outside of CCJO through the CCJ campus program (and other PSU departments).  Many of these courses, however, will not be available fully online.

Additional Information

You can view your current academic standing at my.pdx.edu, Academics, Registration Hub, Check Reg Status & Holds.

Students using financial aid are also subject to the PSU Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy in order to continue receiving aid.  It is important to understand this policy as well: https://www.pdx.edu/finaid/sap

Contact your CCJO Academic Advisor if you have questions about your academic standing.

CCJ Online Inactive Policy

Students admitted to CCJO are expected to maintain continuous enrollment at PSU.

Please note that students may take up to one year or 4 consecutive terms off from the program. When more than 4 consecutive terms have passed without a student registering for any classes at PSU (either CCJO courses or non-CCJO courses), their status in CCJ Online is changed to "inactive".

Inactive CCJO students must reapply to CCJO and re-enroll with PSU in order to resume classes in CCJO.

Reapplying to CCJO requires completing the (free) CCJO program application and meeting CCJO's current admissions criteria for returning PSU students (including a minimum cumulative PSU GPA of 2.25).

Re-enrolling in PSU requires the completion of the (free) re-enrollment form to reactivate your student status. It does not require an admissions application, fee or transcripts, unless you have attended other colleges or universities since you last attended classes as PSU.

Contact your CCJO Academic Advisor if you anticipate needing to take a break from all PSU courses.
