If you are pursuing a bachelor's degree, it is very important that you understand all of PSU's degree requirements.
There are four broad areas that together make up the bachelor's degree requirements:
Academic Major (Criminology & Criminal Justice) Requirements
University Studies Requirements
Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science Requirements
Other General University Requirements
CCJ Online has prepared a Degree Requirements Checklist (see below) to give you an overview of these four areas and to help you track their completion. You should also use a Degree Map to help you plan when to complete certain requirements. Your Academic Advisor sends customized versions of these to you after your admission to the program prior to your first term.
You will also need to regularly run your DARS report to monitor your degree progress. DARS (Degree Audit Reporting System) is what PSU will use to either confirm or deny your graduation when the time comes. So, you need to review it as well.
Students are responsible for monitoring and meeting all degree requirements!

If you are pursuing your bachelor's degree through CCJ Online, it is important to regularly use your Degree Audit Reporting System (DARS) report to see how your current courses apply toward your degree and what you have left to complete.
To run your DARS report:
Go to my.pdx.edu
Under Academics, click on Degree Audit Reporting System (DARS)
The next screen will have a drop-down menu with PSU-Undergraduate or Post-bac Audit already selected. Just click "Continue."
Next, you will need to select your chosen Degree Program and your Catalog Year at PSU.
From the Degree Program drop down menu, be sure to select the "Criminology/Crim Just Online" version of the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science. While they represent the same degree, the CCJ campus and CCJ Online programs have some differences in course names. If you fail to select the "Online" version of the CCJ major, some of your CCJ Online courses will not be applied properly.

"Catalog" is a reference to the PSU Bulletin. Each academic year, PSU puts out an issue of the PSU Bulletin (our catalog). This lists all of the degree requirements for that year. Students have to pick which catalog year they are following and they then have to meet those requirements. Because universities change requirements over time, you want to be sure to select the catalog year that will best apply to you. After seven years, a catalog is no longer valid and the next oldest catalog year will apply where the requirements may be different.
Students can pick any catalog year going back to the first year they attended a regionally accredited college / university in the U.S (not just PSU). However, catalog years expire after seven years (e.g., the requirements in the 2018-2019 catalog year expire Summer 2025).
See your degree map for your recommended catalog year. Please do not guess on this and don't assume that the default listed is what's best for you.
Your Academic Advisor can provide guidance with selecting a catalog.

Your DARS report breaks out all the B.S. or B.A. degree requirements (based on the catalog year you selected) into sections and shows you the specific courses (or types of courses) you need to complete in order to satisfy the requirements.
The CCJ Online Degree Requirements Checklist (see above) provides a summary of the categories of degree requirements that you will see on your DARS report.

Post-baccalaureate students already hold a bachelor's degree. Please note that the requirements for post-bac students seeking a second degree and for those seeking our post-bac certificate in CCJ are different from each other and from undergraduate students seeking their first degree. See the PSU Bulletin for information on post-baccalaureate studies.
Students seeking the online Post-bac Certificate in CCJ have a separate DARS report. For Degree Program, select Criminology/Crim Justice - Post-bac Cert (Online).
DARS does not work well for students seeking a second bachelor's degree. It is recommended that these students use their Degree Checklist & Degree Map provided at the time of admission to monitor their progress.
Students may not receive both a Bachelor's degree in CCJ and the Post-bac Certificate in CCJ.
Students may not receive both the Bachelor's degree in CCJ and the Minor in CCJ.
