Architecture Advising Appointments

Architecture Faculty Advising vs. Pathway Advisors

It is each student’s responsibility to know and keep abreast of their individual progress toward fulfilling the requirements of the degree program they are following. Meeting with advisors at least once per year can vastly improve a student's experience with advanced planning.  PSU requires all Freshman and new Transfer students to visit an Advisor during their first year at PSU.

PSU Pathway Advisors are professional counselors who can assist students with topics beyond the scope of Architecture, such as general elective requirements (cluster and inquiry courses), changing or adding a major/minor, planning for unexpected breaks in study (those who need to change their course plan for the next few years), etc.  Appointments with these Advisors can be made through the Pathway Advising website.

School of Architecture Faculty Advisors are members of the full-time faculty who can answer questions related to ARCH classes, degree programs, the path to licensure,  and give advice on career options, etc. Use the portal below to book an appointment with a faculty member. If you wish to speak to a specific faculty member, and they do not have availability compatible with your own, you may email the faculty member directly to find a mutually-agreeable time.

Who is my School of Architecture Faculty Advisor?

Students are assigned to a faculty member based on the last two digits of their PSU ID number. [See professional academic (Pathways) advisors website to determine your professional advisor].  Faculty and pathway advisors work together to help you plan your most effective route to graduation.

Meet with your Pathway Advisor to address any of these concerns or needs:

* Transferring to PSU

* Course planning and advising for academic requirements (Bachelors requirements, University Studies/Honors, Major, and all PSU-wide degree requirements)

* Mandatory advising, Major confirmation advising, Financial Tools/Resources, Career Development, Graduation Plan

* Academic standing issues –warning, probation, dismissal

* Referrals to Campus Resources: Learning Center, Disability Resource Center, Women’s Resource Center, Queer Resource Center, etc.

* Academic petitions

* Financial aid petitions

* Co-admission advising

* Changing your major outside of the pathway

* Connecting with advisors in second major, a minor, and support services (e.g. TRIO, Athletics, etc.)

Work with your assigned faculty member to discuss your career path, questions about architecture courses/content, internships, professional licensure, and graduate school opportunities at PSU or another University.
