It is each student’s responsibility to know and keep abreast of their individual progress toward fulfilling the requirements of the degree program they are following. Advising appointments for 100-level, 200-level, and transfer students can be scheduled by meeting with a pathway advisor. All Freshman and new Transfer students must visit a full-time (faculty) Advisor during their first year at PSU. Students wanting to arrange an appointment with an Architecture faculty member can do so by visiting the Architecture Faculty Advising Appointments page.
Prospective students interested in joining the Architecture undergraduate major should start by contacting the Office of Admissions in order to learn about the university, degree requirements, set up a campus tour, and get connected to admissions advising.
For prospective PSU transfer students, the Transfer to PSU web page explains the transfer process and how to attend a transfer information session.
In addition, the Transfer & Returning Student Resource Center provides support and advising to students who are transferring to PSU or returning to the university after a break, in order to make the transition back to college as smooth as possible.
Architecture students should meet with advisers in the Design, Creativity and Performance Pathway regarding the degree requirements, general education and other university requirements. Information about how to meet with a Pathway adviser is available at the Design, Creativity, and Performance Pathway advising page.
The requirements for first-year advising are described on the Your First Year at PSU web page.
Learn about PSU's process of evaluating transfer credits on the Transfer Evaluation Reports web page.
In addition, students in the School of Architecture are encouraged to meet with our full-time faculty on a regular basis in order to review their academic progress, receive guidance with planning their Architecture and other courses, and ensure that they are meeting their requirements for graduation. Students are not assigned a particular faculty adviser; each of our faculty members can be consulted for academic and degree-planning guidance.
Faculty advising hours can be viewed and booked on the Architecture Faculty Advising Appointments page of this website.
This online app shows when all PSU classes are going to be offered in a given academic year. It projects classes for up to three years in advance and is updated when each term's class schedule is posted on Banweb. For example, you can look at Architecture courses for 2024-2025 to see if we'll be offering ARCH 482.
While the courses are subject to change, it provides students with a valuable tool for academic planning well in advance of term registration. You must be logged into your ODIN account (pdx.edu email) to see the CPG.
Learn how to run your DARS report
The School maintains a permanent student file with records pertaining to each student’s academic progress, advising recommendations, and unfulfilled degree requirements. Students are advised to maintain their own copies of pertinent academic forms and School of Architecture correspondence.
It is highly recommended that you review the PSU Catalog for the year you intend to fulfill all degree requirements; this generally can be any year between the year you enrolled in college and the current year. All PSU Bulletins from all years are available online here. Should you have any questions regarding undergraduate General Education and University requirements, you should contact the College of the Arts advisors.
It is also recommended that you run a DARS report at least once per term, in order to make sure that you are fulfilling all of your requirements for your major and degree.
To make a substitution request, students must make a faculty advising appointment with an Architecture full-time faculty member.
Students must print out their DARS and bring it to the appointment.
DARS corrections and reviews can take up to 6 weeks to complete. After your advising appointment, the faculty member will submit your substitution request for processing by the University.
