ઉઘાડી રાખજો બારી 

દુઃખી કે દર્દી કે કોઈ ભૂલેલા માર્ગ વાળા ને ,

વિસામો આપવા ઘર ની ઉઘાડી રાખજો બારી .

ગરીબ ની દાદ સાંભળવા, અવર નાં દુઃખ ને દળવા

તમારા કર્ણ નેત્રો ની ઉઘાડી રાખજો બારી.

પ્રણયનો વાયરો વાવા , કુછંદી દુષ્ટ વા જાવા,

તમારાં શુદ્ઘ હૃદયોની ઉઘાડી રાખજો બારી .

અતિ ઉજાસ કરનારા , તિમિર નો નાશ કરનારા ,

કિરણ ને આવવા સારુ , ઉઘાડી રાખજો બારી .

થયેલાં દુષ્ટ કર્મોના છૂટા જંજીર થી થાવા,

જરા સત્કર્મની નાની, ઉઘાડી રાખજો બારી

Keep the window open...

‘Ughaadi Rakhjo Baari’(Keep the window open....) is Sir Prabhashankar Pattani’s own composition, written after witnessing a young boy in his family shutting a window to a beggar asking for alms. Deeply moved by this act of apathy, and drawing on the metaphor of a window, Sir Pattani penned these lines urging the readers to open the windows of their hearts and minds.

This poem is an appeal by a state administrator, a man of position, imploring for sensitivity and kindness, a virtue he imbibed and practiced in his lifetime.
