Course Description: Dance 1 is a physical activity class that introduces dance to all students. Basic foundations, dance terminology, body mechanics - movement/coordination, rhythms and teamwork are all covered in this course. Potential for performances at dance concerts/events are available in this course. Enrollment in Dance 1 enables students to audition to gain membership to the Dance Team program on their campus, but does not guarantee a position on the performing squad. This course fulfills the fine arts graduation requirement.

What do students need to do to be actively involved in dance at Dobie?
Dance 1 students need solid black leggings and a solid black tank top.
Is experience required to join dance at Dobie?
Experience is not required for Dance I students. To be a member of the Lasso JV Dance Team, auditions are required.
What is expected of students involved in dance at Dobie (practices, time commitment, cost, etc.)?
Dance I students do not have extra practices. Cost for participation varies, depending on the class you are taking.
What should I expect to experience as a student involved in dance at Dobie?
Being a part of the dance department at Dobie brings friendship, exciting memories and establishes responsibility in our students.
