The aim of Health and Movement Science (HMS) in Stage 6 is to develop in each student a capacity to think critically about key issues related to health, movement and exercise physiology. It teaches students how the body works and responds to exercise. Students gain valuable skills in analysing movement, physiological processes, improving performance, and understanding the role of areas such as nutrition and psychology on health and performance. Students also learn a deep understanding of the health status of Australia. This knowledge prepares students for careers in the health sector, as well as the fitness or sports industry.
The Year 11 course consists of two core units:
Core 1 – Health for Individuals and Communities
Core 2 – The Body and Mind In Motion
Students will also engage in a Collaborative Investigation and Depth Study.
The Year 12 course consists of two core units:
Core 1 – Health in an Australian and Global Context
Core 2 - Training for Improved Performance
Students will also engage in a Depth Study.
