Step 4: Facilitator On-The-Job Training

Arrive a little early to meet with your Lead Facilitator (and co-Facilitators) to discuss how you’ll apply and practice your Facilitation skills during the session.
You’ll lead specific parts of the meeting each week under the supervision of the Lead Facilitator.
Week 1 (Trainee facilitates first half)
Trainee Facilitator leads the first half: Sign-ins, Welcome Statement, Empty Chair, and Check-ins (under supervision).
Lead Facilitator leads: Break, Second Half, Checkouts, and Facilitator Debrief.
Week 2 (Trainee facilitates second half)
Trainee Facilitator leads the second half: Second Half Statement, Campfire Discussion, and Checkouts (under supervision).
Lead Facilitator leads: First Half and Facilitator Debrief.
Week 3 (bring it all together - Trainee facilitates first and second halves)
Trainee Facilitator leads the full meeting (first and second halves) and posts their first written Debrief (under supervision).
*Progress will depend on the Trainee Facilitator’s confidence and competence.
Sign-off
Once you’ve shown confidence and competence in facilitating the process, your Lead Facilitator will complete the Facilitator On-the-Job sign-off form with you. Here’s what’s in the Sign Off form:
