Hosting the Zoom Meeting
Visit the Zoom download center page to get the latest version of Zoom on your Computer (computer recommended for hosting meetings):
Each of our DiDs. MiDs, GiDs and ViDs peer support meetings have unique Zoom accounts (so we do not have any cross over).
If you are a trained Volunteer Facilitator, and need to 'Host' or lead a scheduled online peer support meeting, please contact the IT/Operations Manager for the correct login and account details:
phil.lamport@parentsbeyondbreakup.com
We recommend you host the meeting on your computer verses a device, as the Lead and Co-Facilitators need to perform multiple actions when hosting online meetings.
Enter the correct login details for the meeting you are hosting.
We recommend you open the meeting using the current Zoom link on the website, or the link that you have been provided by the IT/Operations Manager.
Even though you have downloaded the Zoom Application, it may open your website browser, asking you for permission to open the meeting in your Zoom Application.
Click the pop up button named "Open Zoom.us.app" - this will open the Zoom meeting in your Zoom Application on your computer.
The Zoom Meeting is now open, ready for you to start managing sign-ins.
We recommend you open the Zoom Participants and Chat functions in Zoom, so you can manage and verify sign-ins from attendees in the Zoom "Waiting Room".
Participants: the button has people avatars and is named "Participants"
Chat: the button has 2 speech bubbles and is named "Chat"
When you see attendees in the Zoom "Waiting Room" (seen via the Participants function), send them the sign-in link and code for your meeting via the Zoom "Chat" by selecting "Waiting room participants".
Follow the procedure for verifying sign-ins received, and once you can match them with their Zoom sign-in, you can "Admit" them to the main Zoom meeting, and they will then appear in the main Zoom screen.
Sometimes an attendee may not see the sign-in messages in the Zoom "Chat",
or may have entered the Zoom meeting from their phone, so may appear as "iPhone" or "Samsung".
Select the waiting room attendee (who has not signed in) via the "Chat" and ask for their real name so you can match it with their sign in.
Once you have received a message back, verifying their real name, as Host, you can click beside their name to "Rename" them.
And once you can match them with their sign-in, "Admit" them to the main Zoom meeting.
Remember, no sign-in, no entry.
