The summer holidays feel like a distant memory with the change in weather but we have thoroughly enjoyed exploring the beautiful seasonal changes and have taken every opportunity to be outside when we can. It has been wonderful to welcome the children back, along with a number of new pupils. Our youngest pupils, in nursery and reception, have adapted well to school life and we are very proud of all they have achieved already.
Year 6 started making their 'final year of primary school' memories at their residential visit to Hindleap Warren, set in the stunning Ashdown Forest. They had a wonderful time exploring the outdoors and spending time together, away from school, before returning to a very busy and exciting final year. We are extremely grateful to The Fonthill Foundation who fully funded the trip so that all our pupils could attend if they wished.
We have been delighted to welcome our new school meal providers, Caterlink. The feedback from the children has been very positive and they have really enjoyed the self-service salad, vegetables, bread, fruit and dessert station. These delicious meals, coupled with our morning bagels and an array of fresh fruit, means that there are no hungry tummies at OVPA.
Everyone is ready for a break as this term has been unusually longer than normal. Throughout the 8 weeks of learning, the children have worked enthusiastically and earned a whole school treat on the last day of term as well-deserved acknowledgment.
Enjoy the Autumn break and we look forward to seeing everyone on Monday 4 November.
Mrs Campbell
What a brilliant start back to the term!
I love having the opportunity to visit the class every day and listening to children share their learning with me. The children are amazing at explaining their knowledge across the curriculum.
This term we celebrated Harvest and were joined by Rev. Tim Bell who was so impressed with the generosity of our parents! All of your donations were shared with the Salvation Army to support families in need. Thank you so much.
The arts is something that we are very proud of at OVPA. Children get the chance to be a part of a range of different opportunities across the school, including the Hastings International Piano Workshop, music lessons delivered by expert music teachers including Andy Nunn and Nick Webb, Young Voices and many more. Currently, we have our Year 1, 2 and 6 children practising their Time to Dance routine which I know will be amazing!
I started by sharing how this term has been great; but I know next term will continue to be fantastic with other exciting events to look forward to. We have the inter-school cross country event, Children in Need, a visit from a Paralympic athlete, and of course, as we approach the end of the term we have lots of festive events and shows to get excited about.
Additionally, next term is a chance for you to meet the class teacher to discuss how your child/ren have started this year and how we can work together to give them the best opportunities this year.
We also have our Open Events for any children starting school in September 2025. So if you know of anyone looking to start in Reception next year, please share our days with them.
Mr Paramor
Dear all
As we come to the end of our first term we already have so very much to celebrate.
The Governors too, have returned to school! We are very privileged to be working with Jo Campbell and the entire faculty, both teaching and non-teaching. Every time I arrive at the school I am introduced to new things, and it is such a joy for me to see the progress being made each time.
Since joining the school as Chair in February, I have learnt one key word - outcomes. The focus that everyone has on each pupils' development, and their individual outcomes, is incredible. We as a community are also enormously pleased to be part of the TKAT family - their support is integral to us being able to deliver the very best for our pupils.
For this school year the focus remains firmly on the care and development of each of our students. Their consistent presence in the school is an important part of this, as is all of your support.
We as Governors will be looking to strengthen our body and will be reaching out to all parents to seek their interest in joining the key role as "parent governor". If in the meantime, if you do have an interest please do let Mrs Campbell know.
It goes without saying that the role of parents, guardians and carers is so important, and we as a school look forward to deepening the engagement with yourselves in different ways. We will be looking at the re-establishment of our full PTFA as soon as we can, and I already invite you to consider being a part of this.
With best wishes
