In maths this term we have been exploring time. We started by learning the months of the year and also looked at directions and positional language. We then have learnt how to tell the time to o'clock and half past. We finished the term looking at strategies to add and subtract numbers to 20. We have continued to recap our number bonds to 10 and our addition and subtraction.
In our history lessons this term we have been looking at The Great Fire of London. we found out where the first started and how it started. we have looked at things that hvae haoppened since the Great Fire of London, such as now having a fire services, and houses now made of brick not wood. We look read some of Samuel Peyse diray and found out more face about the Great Fire of London.
In art this team the children created silhoutes of the Great fire of London using paints to explore different colours. In Dt, the children experimented what makes a good structure and the children then created their own tutor house. Look out of dojo for a video of the houses being burnt down!
In maths this term we learned about multiplication and division using arrays. The class were superstars at interpreting arrays and knowing the multiplocation and division facts. They became experts at using our sentence stem 'there are ___ equal groups each with a value of ____. Our whole is ____.' We have been learning time and we have introduced quarter past and quarter to which the whole class worked really hard on.
In our talk for writing lessons this term we have focused on writing character descriptions for our story 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears'. We looked at using adjectives and a list of 3. In our non-fiction unit we have been learning about instruction writing. We have been using verbs, adverbs and adjectives to enhance our writing. We have continued to work on our handwriting and also our spelling. We are seeing a huge improvement in our work, so well done!
This term we have focused on setting description and we have looked at a portal story, 'The Place in Between'. We used adjectives, similes, sentence of three and prepositions. The whole class impressed me with the quality of their writing and the pride they took in their final written piece. In our non-fiction unit we have been learning about instructions and we have included rhetorical questions, imperative 'bossy' verbs and time adverbials in our writing. Amazing work everyone!
