Supervisor Wilma Chan was a champion for the health and well-being of children and families in Alameda County throughout her life, including through her financial support of the project to install water filling stations in all OUSD schools. In spring 2023, bottles were distributed for all OUSD TK-5 elementary students thanks to funds from the Supervisor Wilma Chan Legacy Fund through Vision Alameda County (VAC), the Chan family, and Alameda County Public Health Department Nutrition Services Program. Additional bottles were distributed for middle, high school, and PreK students continue this effort, with thanks to other grant funds provided to OUSD Health & Wellness programs from the City of Oakland Sugar Sweetened Beverage Tax Fund.
