Use the following questions to start constructing your final assessment piece. You should be evaluating the effectiveness of your trianing programme. Everything you discuss should firstly explain why you were doing it, the logic and science behind your training, and secondly should also be discussed in terms of how it actually ended up working or not working.
Use this powerpoint for all the concepts if you need a refresher - POWERPOINT
What was the goal of your training programme?
How does your goal demonstrate SMARTACE?
What energy system were you targeting to improve? Why?
What components of fitness were you targeting to improve?
Why? How does this link to the energy system?
What method of training did you use?
Why was this the right one?
What short and long term responses to training did you expect to see during your training programme. Why was this?
What were the most important principles of training to you? How did you expect them to work for you? How did they actually end up working? As expected? Slightly differently? Why do you think this?
Sport Psychology is really important during training. How did arousal play a part and what did you do to manage your arousal level for running?
What other parts of sport psych played a part in your training programme?
Sociocultural factors played a part throughout your programme too. Which ones had the biggest impact and how was this?
The commodification of sport has a significant impact on our performance - particularly on race day. Discuss how this influenced you, your training and also your race day performance.
What main modifications would you make to your training programme if you were to do this again? Why? What change do you think this would make for you?
**note - through this evaluation you need to 'question and challenge assumptions' about your training programme. This means that where possible (and there are plenty of spots for this to happen) you need to explain why your training didn't work perfectly as it should have on paper and what you would do differently if you were to complete this programme again**
