At The Charger, all objective articles (any article except for a review or opinion piece) must have three sources from interviews. This means that each writer must conduct at least three interviews per article, and it is a requirement that each interview consist of at least five open-ended questions for the person being interviewed to answer. At the beginning of the school year I gave a presentation to my staff on proper interview etiquette (shown below). Unless it is an extremely strenuous circumstance, all of interviews are conducted in-person and recorded (few interviews are done either via email, on Zoom, or over the phone). After this, the interview is transcribed by that writer. For all articles and infographics, if a fact, piece of data, or statistic is used the source must be cited and the source must be credible. I also gave a presentation on how to find credible information online to ensure that all facts published by The Charger are truthful.
