The purpose of this assignment was to construct an advertisement with the purpose of selling one of the fundamental forces. At this current time we were learning about Fundamental Forces, what they were, how they impacted us and what they were made of. For this assignment we had to consider everything that we had learned about each force and decide which one we wanted to sell and how we want to sell the forces. This assignment challenged me by forcing me to be more creative with what I wanted to do and step out of my comfort zone. Through this assignment I was able to overcome this challenge, progress even more with how I'm able to be creative and learn about the things that most people tend to forget make up our world entirely.
This assignment was a quiz we were given before we performed a lab about free fall to ensure our full understanding of the topic, the things ongoing in the lab and its purpose. While reading the document to provide this information I began noticing that I didn't fully grasp the information been presented but regardless I reread the document and move on to the quiz. A mistake I made was not asking questions about the parts I didn't understand which contributed to my poor achievement on this quiz. In addition to this I was in a hurry to just get the quiz done and move on to the lab because while it's a good pursuit, I didn't learn/understand what was necessary. I chose this assignment because while it wasn't my best work, it allows me to see what I could improve.
To conclude our unit on electricity we had conducted a lab in order to test and investigate how different objects are affected by the kind of charge they had and the separation between them. The observations and outcome of this lab was recorded and then used for this lab report assignment being presented here. This is normally done to conclude a unit and showcase our understanding of the topic and what occurred in the lab. Up until this my ability to perfectly write lab reports had been basic but not at the level I personally wanted. With this in mind and using the feedback I got on my previous lab reports I was able to be successful on this lab report, gaining the highest score I had ever gotten on a lab report. Through this report, I was not only able to express my understanding of the topic but also grow in terms of my writing ability.
As marking period two was coming to an end, we were presented with a test that was composed of everything we had learned throughout the marking period. From this marking period we were introduced to different topics like magnetism, electric charges, pendulums and even universal gravitation. Needless to say this test was one of the biggest tests we were going to have and unfortunately it wasn't my best performance. Despite my performance this test revealed to me that I need to work on understanding the topics more rather than trying to memorize different aspects because by understating the concept I will be able to tackle whatever question I'm approached with because I understand it. Regardless of this performance it allowed me to learn a method that will allow me to do better on future assessments.
As marking period three came to an end we had to take a test that incorporated everything we had learned throughout the entire marking cycle. This meant that before the test we as students had to review everything we had learned in marking period three to ensure we had a basic understanding of the everything that was going to be on the test. While nerves played somewhat of a factor, going into this test I was somewhat confident in my ability to be successful as I had reviewed the material provided to us. Although there were certain topics I wasn't very confident in, this was a chance to do better than I had done on previous final marking period assessments. Fortunately I was able to be successful on this assignment and gained new understanding on the topics we had learned as we go into the final marking period.
As we wrapped up our topic on the conservation of energy, we were tasked to write a lab report based on a lab/experiment we had done that exemplified what we had learned about the conservation of energy. This lab report was done to show our understanding of both the topic and its connection to the lab that we had done. While doing the lab me and my group weren't able to be successful as we didn't get the expected results which made completing the lab report more difficult that it had to be. Also a mistake of mine was not ensuring I fully undertstood the topic before going into this. From this lab report I was able to understand my own personal errors and understand what to do better moving forward.
As we progressed in our learning about waves and how they act we began testing and learning about the different interactions they have between each other. Essentially how different waves based on their properties could be simply amplified or cancelled out and in order to allow us to physically experience this we were given a lab to conduct in order to experiment with this idea in order to truly understand. While the experiment in itself was fun, my performance on the quiz prior wasn't my best as it showed that I didn't really understand due to my constant need to rush. My constant need to rush is what cost me my grade on this assignment and is a warning that I need to do better. Through this assignment I was able to learn this and more about sound waves.
For this assignment we were given the scenario of the president proposing that two thirds of all cars sold in the United States will be electric powered by 2032. We had to choose a renewable energy source and research the ability of building a power plant capable of producing 2100 Terawatt Hours annually to power the cars in New Jersey using our energy source. This assignment made us consider everything, from land space to how it affects the surroundings and even how many power plants we would need to create this much power. While getting started was a bit difficult I enjoyed the creativity and freedom we were provided with which is why I felt I did better on this assignment.
