This was one of the first starter assignment for Onshape that we did in order to show our understanding on how to use the website. Before this we had to learn what the tools were and also learn how to use the tools and mechanics on the website to make something before we could actually do anything on the website. Doing this assignment allowed us to apply what we learned and actually create something that made sense. While we had just started this gave us our first view on what was to come.
Following the Arch Lego assignment this was given to us a month later to further test our knowledge about Onshape and use what we learned to create something meaningful. Through this assignment I was able to learn how to create warped surfaces in order to give the objects I'm modeling a distinct shape in order to further convey what I was creating. Compared to other assignments on Onshape this one challenged me mainly because I had to use a tool I didn't fully understand and apply it's concept in order to create the Coffee Cup. While it was a little bit challenging this assignment is one that helped learn something new that later on helped me on Onshape.
This assignment is one that combined all the topics and concepts we had learned throughout the school year at this point mainly because we had to create protective case that could perfectly fit earbuds in without any issues while meeting the customers needs. We had to use components like design briefs, criteria and constraints and other topics in order to be successful on this assignment. And after breaking this down we then had to model our case on Onshape and ensure it came out right. I enjoyed this assignment as it allowed us to learn more about Onshape and gave us the creativity space to do design our case anyway we liked.
Through completing this assignment, I learned about different adhesives, their advantages, disadvantages and the many ways materials could be held apart. Also this assignment taught me how to conduct presentations, present and research about different topics. Due to the amount of adhesives this assignment was then broken up into different parts and different groups were given a different adhesive to present. Despite the amount of time this project took me and my group were able to be successful on this project and come out with a well researched presentation about adhesives.
This assignment was another presentation we have to do about plastics since at this point we were learning about materials in the real world, their life cycles and their uses. Since this was a presentation we had to research about the seven different types of plastics their advantages, disadvantages and the many ways materials they are used. This assignment was more informational as it gave us information about the daily items and materials we use and their impact on the environment. Also it tied into other assignments that were given to us later on because on our next project we had to use materials that benefited the environment and left a good environmental footprint.
Following our assignment with plastics and adhesives we were supposed to use that information and what we learned from about materials to create something that didn't harm the environment using household materials. This was the hardest assignment all school year since it incorporated all we've learned about materials, environment and adhesives while forcing us to keep in mind about the impact our materials and invention had. While it was the hardest it was fun because we could make whatever we want in a sense with whatever materials we had. Through this assignment we were given the space to be creative which allowed us to enjoy the assignment even more.
