Marking Period 1
The task of the assignment was to respond to the prompt. We were asked to choose five simple goods that were traded in ancient times and explain background info about it, along with its ancient price, its origins, or its significance. For example, gunpowder is one of many inventions utilized in ancient history. It is also known as black powder which is used as a chemical explosive. Gunpowder was useful in ancient times because it was a very significant element in numerous warfare
Glow: I did well on following instructions correctly. I also did well on including a references page. This helped future readers (if possible) know where I got my information from.
Grow: I could work on explaining my claims better. I also have to figure out how to conclude each paragraph since I input a quantity of information and remorselessly move on to the next topic.
The task of the assignment was to prove our understanding of ancient vocabulary making a unique story that introduces the composition of up to 10 words or more. This was all on Unit 2. This includes words like "The Silk Road" or the "Indian Ocean Trade Route". My story was based on a timeline. It focused on the history of Kashgar. It is located in Western China. This was the first sector of the Silk Road. The Silk Road was trading’s right hand man as it was the first ever major trade route throughout China and Europe. I also included the different factors that structured this nation.
Glow: I did well on explaining the lexicon of each of the words I included. I also liked the way I introduced the story into a "once upon a time" format.
Grow: I could work on challenging myself to add more words to define. It is always a good thing to go above and beyond when it comes to writing.
Marking Period 2
The task of the assignment was to come with a supported answer to a prompt. I have to explain how AI technologies could influence the pursuit of racial injustice in our society. I think that technology can support racial injustice by unleashing the ability to share beliefs or comment on them. Technology can influence the pursuit of racial injustice in our society by the use of AI, social media, or the future.
Glow: I did well on explaining what AI, social media, and the future is. This way it can give readers can have an idea of what they think it is. This acts as a credible way to define these words.
Grow: I could work on looking over all of my work before turning in. This is because I did notice a couple of errors like punctuation, or grammar mistakes. Next time, I need to look over all my work so I can ensure that what I wrote is accurate enough to turn in.
The task of the assignment was to use all of my knowledge that I gained from learning about the Safavid empire and make a 500 word paragraph out of it. In this assignment, I have to answer a question. That question was "Did the Safavid Nation earn the title of empire" and I think that the Safavid Nation did earn the title of empire because it advanced or maintained the unique factors of a successful empire. This includes expansion upon its territory or an innovative leader and military strength. The information of the Safavid nation or empire does reflect on what I know about it. When I think of an empire, I visualize a good leader, lots of people and protection, or a stable economy. These ideas wee useful towards this writing assignment.
Glow: I did well on answering the question and writing above and beyond the word count. (If 505 words count!)
Grow: I could work on elaboration more as I just include information without any explanation.
Marking Period 3
The task of the assignment was to use all of my knowledge to answer the guiding questions related to this topic. Then we have a choice on which project activity to partake in. I chose to make a photo essay/gallery. We had to choose an invention and share information about it. My photo gallery shows progression over time since it acts as a timeline from how life and its factors that revolve around labor advances through the years since now, things are better for us including wages, environments and/or health. Its information supports my gallery because it seems that the inventor of railroads also worked in child labor which was a hard condition to adhere to at that time.
Glow: I did well on answering the guiding questions and including color, pictures and information about my photo essay and my modernized invention of choice.
Grow: I could work on elaborating more as I just include information without any explanation. I also could've added more details and description in my photo gallery.
The task of the assignment was to answer each question using the sources that Mr. Johnson has provided. I could also utilize the internet as my local lifeline. Coherent details are expected for each question. I am required to answer a question with a paragraph if one orders me to do so. I learned that imperialism can be thought of as the domination by one country of the political, cultural or economic life of another. It is a policy of extending a country's power and influence though colonization or military force. I also found out that the Berlin Conference was an international conference that was meant to establish rules for colonizing America and to avoid bloodshed among Europeans. There, it was agreed that no country would be viable to equip African regions unless it had set up a government office.
Glow: I did well on answering the guiding questions. I also admire how I used my time wisely this time to complete instead of heavily procrastinating which is one my worst habits.
Grow: I could work on elaborating more as I just include information without any explanation. I also could have tried harder to maintain the sentence rule. Since I am older than most, I must try my best to answer simple questions with a total of 2 - 5 (sometimes - 8) sentences.
Marking Period 4
In this project, I chose to investigate a newly formed nation in Africa due to Imperialism. I researched a number of factors of a specific chosen african country by generating a before and after report. I was ordered to investigate the nation of my choice and clearly explain the effects of colonization. I was graded not just on my research but also on my presentation. I worked with 3 other of my classmates, Tyler, Tseyone and Randy.
Glow: I did well on contributing to the presentation. I was able to promote teamwork amongst my peers because this was a group project. All of my partners put their effort into this project. I also did well on providing decent information for the section of the presentation I decided to present about.
Grow: I could work on elaborating more as I just include information without any explanation. I also could have tried harder to maintain the sentence rule. I could work my presentation skills too. Mr. Johnson recommended me to take my time as a progress through it. I started to rush but fixed my speech speed as I eased in.
For this assessment, I had to answer a series of questions leading up to a written paper. I was suppose to write and learn about how factors like wealth, health, or status can affect the religions or currency of a nation. Between 600 BCE and 1500 CE, religious and political responses to the rise in wealth in Eurasia often differed significantly. Religions placed more emphasis on moral behavior, spiritual ideals, and the wise use of wealth than did states, which prioritized economic expansion, resource control, and wealth accumulation in order to maintain power and stability. The factors that correlated with this topic are the types of views that were held, the diversity of the views and taxation.
Glow: I did well on applying my effort into this task. I have good info. I did an acceptable job on addressing the prompt.
Grow: I could work on my introduction and conclusion skills. I need to work on not being too repetitive. I re-accounted my claims in my intro and in my conclusion.
