Marking Period 1
The task of the assignment was to respond to the questions below thoughtfully and thoroughly, using formal spelling, grammar, and punctuation. The goal of this assignment was for us to write about what we think about the book "Enrique's Journey".
Glow: I did well on trying my best on answering these questions.
Grow: I could work on explaining my answer better.
The task of the assignment was to write a story about your name and how it might reflect one or more aspects of your identity. My name is Jayden Samir Moinvil. My parents came up with the idea for my name. It was mostly because of a matter of choice. There were so many options to choose from. If I was not named “Jayden”. I could have been named “Jaden”, “Jaiden”, “Jadyn”, or “Jordan”, or “Kayden”. My name is special because it defines who I am in my own way.
Glow: I did well on trying my best to answer the prompt and include info about my name.
Grow: I could work on explaining what my name means better.
Marking Period 2
The task of the assignment was to make a rhetorical analysis explaining how Martin Luther Kings Speech appeals to either ethos, pathos, and logos. I believe that the purpose of the speech was to persuade or inspire people to do something about what was wrong in their lives to make them better since the subject of all this is freedom and equality, and Martin Luther King appeals to ethos and pathos to do this.
Glow: I did well on trying my best on answering the prompt. I liked how I gave an idea of what the ethos, pathos, or logos mean.
Grow: I could work on explaining my answer better. I also could do better with my grammar in various spots in my essay.
The task of the assignment was to simply write a little bit about Trevor Noah. This was done before reading his features book "Born a Crime". Trevor Noah is a south African comedian/television host who is known for his success of his political commitment skills and his author status. He is known as the host for an american TV series “The Daily Show”.
Glow: I did well on trying my best to answer questions from the google classroom assignment generally. I also did well on including a proper references page.
Grow: I could work on advancing the format of my work or attempting to include all of my resources unless they are unavailable to access.
Marking Period 3
The task of the assignment was to write a narrative that reflects one or more formative experiences you have had with at least one area of literacy, and how that early experience has influenced your current feelings and attitudes toward learning. I was supposed to resonate with my personal life and how it correlates with education. One important prominent feature of the keys that I wear every day, hangs a “J” emblem-like keychain accessory. I bought it many, many months ago from a shop in Jamaica and I’ve lived with it ever since. The first letter of my name is “J” so it is kind of ironic. This has influenced me about my current feelings and attitudes towards learning and writing because it reminds me how successful I am to write about it
Glow: I did well on moving my peers with my vivid writing skills. I was able to embrace imagery and similes thought out the narrative while also adhering got the topic. For example, " It is 3:26, I peek through the door window to see various students getting ready to leave. I hear the opening and slamming of the distant lockers that they were starting to search through to pack up and leave. When the teacher confirms I walk-run to the exit." & "I put on my clothes while my mother blares her gospel music while singing to it. It's like a nearby karaoke machine that protrudes its way to my room as I am getting dressed."
Grow: I could work on advancing the format of my work or attempting to include more connections if possible. For example, one of my peers suggested I insert more "details".
The task of the assignment was to simply create a “map” of at least five memories you associate with reading, writing, learning, or school. For example, I could induce my earliest, happiest, saddest, funniest, most powerful or frustrating or confusing, most lingering, and/or most meaningful memories.
Glow: I did well on trying my best to consider a visual image or several visual images that represent me and my feelings about learning.
Grow: I could work on advancing the format of my work or attempting to add more color to make my project POP from a distance.
