Hi, and welcome to my classroom. I am very excited you stopped by to learn about me, my teaching style, learning philosophy, and the passion I have for education.
ABOUT ME: I have had the pleasure to teach within the Ontario Montclair School District for about 25 years now, all of which have been invested at Kingsley Elementary. I have taught 1st, 2nd, 5th, and 6th grade. I am currently teaching 5th grade this year. I Completed my Liberal Studies Degree at Cal State San Bernardino and went on and received my Teaching credential and Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Redlands. I have always been passionate about teaching and inspiring young minds both academically and emotionally. I believe in teaching the whole child and giving the students confidence to help them be successful in school and in life. My students will learn to take ownership of their learning all while feeling loved and appreciated. When I think of teaching young minds the phrase "Growth Mind Set" comes to mind. You always need to be open to trying new things, learning new Ideas and strategies and applying them to your teaching. This is what I strive to have and accomplish each and every day in my teaching.
For the past three years, I have had the privilege of being a spotlight teacher, a role that has allowed me to showcase exemplary pedagogy to my colleagues. My classroom has become a dynamic learning hub where educators from across the district can observe and engage with innovative teaching practices in real-time. This opportunity has not only highlighted the effectiveness of my instructional strategies, but also has fostered a collaborative environment where teachers can exchange ideas, gain inspiration, and refine their own approaches to education. Being a spotlight teacher has been an incredibly rewarding experience, contributing to the professional growth of both myself and my peers.

My Classroom Resources
I love my Twitter Chat Chart...I use this as my exit card after each lesson.
I have added an affirmation mirror. This allows the students to know they are Special in so many ways.
You will also see in this photo my morning greetings. My students look forward to this greeting each morning.
This interactive place value chart has added so much value to my math lessons. The students can come up and manipulate and physically move the number along, which helps those who need a more hand-on approach to place value. Along with this, each student has their own copy in a sheet protector as well.
I love my leveled library...I have it leveled by Lexile. Each student is able to pick 3-5 books at their level. They may take the books home each night and are required to bring them back each day. While in class, they may take Reading Counts Test to earn points, which they may trade those points in for prizes. I also have a Leveled book baggie time (20 minutes) set aside each day for independent reading at their level.
