I have been teaching in OMSD for 18 years. I am a first-grade teacher at Elderberry Elementary.  My philosophy of teaching focuses on each child's educational needs, the teaching strategies to help each child achieve their highest potential, and the development of positive character traits (PBIS), which are essential for becoming a productive citizen in today's society.  My instructional focus is on early literacy, utilizing high-quality texts with an emphasis on vocabulary and comprehension, phonics/word analysis (ECRI), and writing (WFTB)  while incorporating collaborative conversations through the use of Kagan strategies.   I enjoy engaging my students in Eureka Math and Mountain Math (spiral review) by using an array of engagement strategies. I strive to make math fun and exciting for my students. My goal is to provide students with a love of reading and math which provide a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
