I have been teaching in OMSD for 15 years. I am a first-grade teacher at Elderberry Elementary.  My philosophy of teaching focuses on each individual child and their educational needs, the teaching strategies to help each child achieve their highest potential, and the development of positive character traits (PBIS) which are essential in becoming a productive citizen in today's society.  My instructional focus is early literacy using Wonders with an emphasis on fluency, phonics/word analysis, vocabulary, writing and reading comprehension while incorporating collaborative conversations with the use of Kagan strategies.   I enjoy engaging my students in Eureka Math by using an array of engagement strategies. I strive to make math fun and exciting for my students. My goal is to provide students with the love of reading and math which provide a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
