Student Attendance Expectations
Oklahoma City Public Schools (OKCPS) is dedicated to providing equitable access to a world class education where every student will graduate ready to fulfill their unique purpose in a healthy, vibrant community. Central to this dedication is recognizing that some students possess unique abilities necessitating specialized programs to support the comprehensive enhancement of their overall intellectual capacity, specific academic aptitude, critical thinking skills, leadership potential, and performance proficiency.
Students are identified for the program through a comprehensive process. Eligibility begins with a qualifying intellectual ability assessment score and then may also include additional criteria such as standardized assessments, educator nomination form, and a parent/guardian behavioral checklist. The identification process is designed to ensure equitable access to gifted services for all students.
Once identified, students may receive a range of services based on their individual needs and grade level. Recognizing that no single program meets the needs of all gifted learners, OKCPS, provides options such as differentiated instruction in the classroom, enrichment opportunities, flexible pacing, and other instructional strategies that support advanced learning. The district is committed to nurturing the full potential of gifted and talented learners through a comprehensive and responsive educational approach. The overarching goals for these students include:
