With the warm summer days quickly approaching and this unique school year soon coming to a close, many people are wondering how they can make the most of the summer ahead. While certain COVID restrictions are still mostly in effect (especially more so for indoor locations), families are trying to find ways to take advantage of the nice summer weather. We're here to help with our guide to a summer staycation right here in Ottawa.
We know that OCV Phoenixes live all over Ottawa, so we've included suggestions in urban, suburban, and rural areas, east, west, south, and central. After the year that we’ve had, it’s important that we all take advantage of the amenities available within our great city.
While most of us students have been staring at our computer screens for 5+ hours a day for the past 10 months for school, it will be really nice to finally log out of the Google Meets, take a break, and get back to enjoying nature and the world around us. Some fun activities such as paddling and biking will be extremely popular this summer. Check out our suggestions for the best places to do these activities.

Even just walking in your neighbourhood can be fun. Remember our scavenger hunt in Issue 3? If you didn't attempt it back in dreary November, give it a try this summer! It might be easier to spot garden gnomes if they aren't buried under the snow! We have been told that pink garage doors, tire swings, and pairs of shoes hanging from wires are very difficult to find. Well, you have two months! You can do it!
After all that exercise, you will probably have worked up quite an appetite! We have several suggestions of local businesses worth supporting this summer for their delicious food.
