Spelling Bee
The spelling bee season begins with a written spelling test administered to all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. The top speller from within each grade from each school is then given another written spelling and vocabulary test. Scores from this test are used to select the top 15 spellers Districtwide from each grade. These spellers are invited to participate in the semi final spelling bee at Vegas PBS. Seven students from each grade spell off at the CCSD Final Spelling Bee at Vegas PBS to be one of two students from the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades to represent CCSD in the Nevada State Spelling Bee. State finalists attend a recognition luncheon in February.
