Varsity Quiz
Varsity Quiz is a knowledge-based quiz bowl competition co-sponsored by the Kiwanis of Las Vegas. The league consists of multiple divisions of competitive teams and standard teams and runs from September to February. The quarter-finals, semi-finals, finals and All Star Matches are broadcast on Vegas PBS/Channel 10 KLVX.

2024 Silver League Champs, Hall of Fame and Scholarship
On February 23, 2024, Coronado High School defeated Clark High School with 120-155 score in the final Silver League match of the 55th Varsity Quiz season.
After the championship match, an All Star match was held with several players from various schools in the Silver League. Team Tannenbaum took a victory over Team Naylor 150 to 110.
Howard Naylor and Nate Tannenbaum were the 2024 inductees into the Varsity Quiz Hall of Fame.
Howard is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Las Vegas and has been instrumental in the development and success of the Varsity Quiz program and partnership with CCSD. He has served as a judge, scorekeeper and cheerleader. Howard also sponsors the annual Howard Naylor Scholarship for one well deserving VQ graduating senior. This years' recipient was Parth Joshi from Clark HS.
Nate Tannebaum is celebrating his 50th year in broadcasting! Since 2009 he has hosted Varsity Quiz and Junior Varsity Quiz, giving his time to celebrating student successes. We are recognized our favorite host because he is truly What's Cool at School!

Silver League 2024 Schedule
From October through November 2023, students from 17 Clark County high schools competed in matches at school sites in the Varsity Quiz Silver League. The 2024 Silver League final matches were played at Vegas PBS in January and February.
Episodes will play Thursdays at 7:30 PM beginning February 29 and repeat at 3:00 PM on the following Thursday and 4:00 AM on the following Tuesday. All broadcasts are on 10.1 Vegas PBS.

Blue League 2024
From October through November 2023, students from 11 Clark County high schools competed in matches at school sites in the Varsity Quiz Blue League. In January 2024, competition in the VQ Blue League season culminated with semi final matches between Del Sol vs. Northeast CTA and Mojave vs. Southeast CTA. Del Sol Academy defeated Mojave High School with 155-100 score in the final match of the Blue League season.
After the championship match, an All Star match was held with players from across the Blue League from the following schools: Centennial, Del Sol, Mojave, NECTA, SECTA, Silverado, and Valley. Team Krafve took a victory over Team Bettencourt for a 125 to 110 win.

Silver League Finals 2023
On February 24, 2023, Coronado High school defeated The Meadows School with 110-80 score in the final match of the Silver League season.
After the championship match, an All Star match was held with several players from various schools in the Silver League. Team Bettencourt took a victory over the Team Krafve 170 to 155.

Howard W. Naylor Varsity Quiz Scholarship
Since 1986, a $1000.00 scholarship has been awarded to an outstanding Varsity Quiz graduating senior in the name of Harvey N. Dondero, a distinguished CCSD administrator. After 30 years, the fund was retired. To preserve continuance of the award, Kiwanis Past President Howard W. Naylor has provided funds for awards to be presented in his name beginning with the 2016-2017 competition year. Mr. Naylor raised the scholarship amount to $2000 for the 2023 recipient who has been involved with JVQ and VQ since he was in the 6th grade.
Over the life of the program, more that $100,000.00 in competition and scholarship funds have been awarded.

Blue League Finals 2023
On January 20, 2023, Silverado High school defeated Bonanza High School with 115-95 score in the final match of the Blue League season.
After the championship match, an All Star match was held with several players from various schools in the Blue League. Team Bettencourt took a victory over the Team Krafve 170 to 90.

Silver League Finals 2022
On February 25, 2022, Clark High School defeated Coronado High School with 130-105 score in the final match of the Silver League season.
After the championship match, an All Star match was held with several players and coaches from various schools in the Silver League. Teams were named for former VQ legends. Team Ginger for retired CCSD Student Activities Director, Sandy Ginger. Team Williams is named for Gary Williams, retired director of Vegas PBS. Both Mrs. Ginger and Mr. Williams played with their teams.
Team Ginger took a victory over the Team Williams 165 to 150 final score.

Blue League Finals 2022
On January 21, 2022, Advanced Technologies Academy defeated Arbor View High School with 105-90 score in the final match of the Blue League season.
After the championship match, an All Star match was held with several players and coaches from various schools in the Blue League. Teams were named for former VQ legends. Team Bettencourt for former judge Carlos Bettencourt who coached VQ teams for 16 years and then served as a moderator for both Junior Varsity and Varsity Quiz. He is an inaugural member of the Varsity Quiz Hall of Fame. Team Krafve is named for Dick Krafve. Dick was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Las Vegas and the Honorary Varsity Quiz head judge.
Team Bettencourt took a victory over the Team Krafve 140 to 125 in a close match.
