Sarah Devlin is an experimental video artist and animator based in New Orleans, Louisiana. Sarah began making short films and music videos at the age of 14, and after winning the top award at the Louisiana Film Fest 2009, she went on to study Media Arts at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts. As a student there, Sarah’s portfolio of experimental films received several awards, including Scholastic Art and Writing Awards Portfolio Gold Medal, YoungArts Cinematic Arts Finalist, Best Animation/Experimental at the Toronto Student Film Festival, Best Music Video at Women and Minorities in Media Fest, and had her films on display at Parson’s Gallery in New York. She was a speaker at the 2013 National Art Educator’s Conference, presenting on how artist-educators can assist and accommodate non-traditional students and their socio-emotional needs. Sarah worked for several years as a hospital-homebound teacher, working with students with chronic illness, which had a profound impact on her creative process.
In 2019, Sarah began teaching in the Media Arts Department at NOCCA. She is thrilled and honored to be able to work in the institution that started her artistic career.
