Dearest Journal

A short film based on the poem "Dearest Journal" by Maggie Malone (another NOCCA student). I, personally, think the purpose of the poem is to let its audience feel anxious. There can be many interpretations of it though so I hope whoever watches it can figure out what it means for themselves. I think the film helps describe what I do as an artist because I always like to make things that feel a little twisted.

I made this one day when I felt really bored and annoyed during the beginning of quarantine. I followed what natural anatomy looks like until I made the eyes. I felt like the eyes should be big and placed in a deep-set way to exaggerate the face's expression and to also carry meaning. I tried to make the face look like someone's face was painfully morphed because I feel like a lot of people feel stuck in frustrating situations during this quarantine. Hopefully, everything will get better soon and we can all become more at peace after all of this.
