Principal Investigators
Dr Vibhore Prasad is an academic GP, experienced in research and delivering studies in Primary Care. He is associated with the University of Nottingham (UoN) and King’s College London, has a Masters in epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical medicine, and a PhD from UoN.
Dr Gavin Lunn is a GP Partner and Sub-Investigator. He has a vast amount of research experience and has carried out successful research studies for many years at Brierley Park Medical Centre. He regularly acts as Sub-PI for our studies and his interests within the practice include Palliative Care, Mental Health, Men’s Health and Minor Surgery & Injections.
Senior Primary Care Research Nurse
Sarah Shelton is a Senior Primary Care Research Nurse for Mid-Nottinghamshire. Sarah works across Primary and Secondary care and supports collaborations across the two.
Specialties
Due to being located in an ex-mining community we have a high prevalence of respiratory illnesses therefore we specialise in Respiratory studies and have a respiratory practice nurse. We also recruit well to Mental Health, Diabetes and Chronic Kidney Disease studies.
Also, our lead GP for research has a keen interest in adolescent mental health.

Space available for monitoring visits and supervised remote monitoring
Supervised monitor access to our electronic patient records
Our Electronic Medical Record (EMR) platform is SystmOne
We can easily run searches within our clinical database to identify eligible patients
Experience with virtual/decentralised delivery, including remote consent
Pharmacy located within the Huthwaite site, and established working relationships with pharmacists across both sites

Active GP Teaching Practice Group
We are an active GP teaching practice group and hold training sessions relating to research for F2s and speciality trainees from ours and neighbouring practices to attend.

Experience
We were one of the top recruiting sites for a Mental Health medical device study in 2021, recruiting 25 participants
Experienced in clinical trials with data extraction directly from our EMR
We have been heavily involved in several Serology studies
Collaborations
We have an established close collaboration with the research department at Sherwood Forest Hospitals with a dedicated research nurse to work across both sites.
We also have a Senior Primary Care Research Nurse for Mid-Notts with the aim to increase primary care research across the region.
We are part of a group of Primary Care sites in the East Midlands that are interested in expanding the Commercial Portfolio and regularly meet to support each other to set up and deliver studies.
