Special projects credits are designed to recognize work undertaken by students on an individual Basis
Special projects credits may be applied toward the Alberta High School Diploma
Students who successfully complete projects are granted 3 credits for 75 hours of work or 5 credits for 125 hours of work in any one semester, or full term on the approval of the principal.
How it works:
Students can submit a clearly planned proposal to the principal for approval. The proposal should include:
− a description or outline of the project
− the number of hours of work expected to complete the project
− a method by which the project will be carried out
− a description of the expected result
− the evaluation procedures as outlined by a teacher
− an expected completion date − the name of the supervising teacher.
Mrs. McNeice's suggestions for Special Projects 30 are:
To continue with Portfolio Building, working with themes, and complete the semester with an exhibit of their work. This exhibit would be both in person at the school and online with a digital display. This will build upon the skills already learned in the ART 30 class, but gives the opportunity to keep working on their portfolios for submitting to post secondary schools.
Create a visual ART HISTORY research presentation. For example researching a specific art movement or artist, their influences, and applying those skills and techniques into your own art work. Present it to your peers or younger grades as a guest speaker.
Develop and create art lessons for K-7 elementary students and offer it to Onoway Elementary School through collaboration with the teachers and administration.
Have a different idea? Mrs. McNeice is open to reviewing any other art themed proposal or exploration, please arrange a meeting to discuss.
*You must complete Art 30 with a minimum of 80% to be considered.
