This past week, we kicked off our Opinion Writing Unit! 1st Graders learned that an opinion is different than a fact. Opinions are personal thoughts and feelings about a subject that can change. 1st Graders practiced forming an opinion about a subject and providing reasons for their opinion. For example, students had to decide if they would rather go to the Aquarium or the Zoo and share their reasons with others who had the same opinion.
1st Graders also wrote about their opinion on the following topics:
Favorite Toy or Game
The Best Place to Visit
1st Graders were then given the opportunity to present their opinions in front of their peers!
