The bed: Your room will have a bed frame and a mattress. The mattress is a Twin-XL (80 inches), so make sure you purchase the correct sheets. (It’s a good idea to bring a couple sets of sheets, since washing sheets can be a pain.) Many opt to purchase a mattress topper to make their sleeping experience even more enjoyable. The furniture is modular, so beds can be bunked on top of each other, or lofted on top of your wardrobe and desk (the Welcome Weekend Staff can help you with lofting.) Your room comes with a sink, medicine cabinet, and mirror.
The wardrobe: You and your roommate will each get an open wardrobe with a hanging rod and a drawer. You should bring hangers to store clothes in your dresser. The doubles have built-in wardrobes. The quads have open modular wardrobes
The desk: Each of you gets a desk and a chair.
Some friendly advice: Only bring what you really need. Talk to your roommate ahead of time to coordinate who is bringing what, especially larger items (TV, fridge, rug, etc.).

Doubles are 12’ by 16’ including the wardrobe. If you want to get a carpet (it is by no means required), we recommend a carpet that is 12’ by 14’.
Quad side rooms are 9’6” by 13’. We recommend a carpet that is 9’ by 13’. The quad center rooms are 9’4” by 13’5”. We recommend a carpet that is 9’ by 12’.
You can, of course, bring a rug that is smaller than the carpet size recommended or none at all.

Domer dollars are like a debit card on your student ID. You (or your parents/guardians) put money on your student account and you can spend them at food locations on campus as well as additional locations like the bookstore, Copy Shop, concession stands in the Football Stadium, and certain vending machines.
Siegfried Hall is equipped with washers and dryers free of charge! If you plan to do your own laundry, don’t forget to bring laundry detergent, dryer sheets, etc. An ironing board and several irons are available for your use in the laundry room as well.
St. Michael’s Laundry provides laundry service, dry cleaning, etc. for a fee.
First year students are not permitted to have cars on campus during their first semester. Uber and Lyft are widely available around campus. Upperclassmen also tend to be very generous in giving rides!
Parietals are like "Visitation Hours" at other schools. At Notre Dame, they mark the time when men cannot be in women's dorms and vice versa, this includes siblings, parents, and relatives of the opposite sex. On weekdays, parietals mean female guests cannot be in Siegfried from 12am to 9am and from 2am to 9am on weekends. Each dorm has a 24-hour space where men and women can hang out all of the time. Siegfried’s 24-hour space is the first floor of the building. Parietals allow for more bonding among the residents of Siegfried and late night privacy.
