Athletics
Siegfried Hall has an illustrious history of interhall sports success. There are 32 residence halls on campus (17 male, 15 female), so many intramural sports are played on the interhall level. Halls enter one or more teams in 16 different sports, earning points for participation and competing to finish in the top four in each sport. The grand prize of interhall sports is the coveted O'Leary All Sports Trophy, which has been in existence since 1997. Since then, Siegfried has claimed the trophy in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020, a grand total of eleven times.
Siegfried also competes in an annual competition with its brother dorm, Knott Hall, for the Flanner Cup. This competition is named after Flanner Hall, where the residents of Siegfried and Knott originally lived until 1997. This week-long battle for pride consists of athletic competitions between the two male Mod Quad dorms. The winner gets to name the greenspace between the dorms. Siegfried earned the right to name the greenspace the Siegfried Slope in 2000-2008, 2011, and 2014-2015.
Ramblers sign up to receive information for as many sports as they like during the first week of classes. Team captains then stay in touch with interested residents before submitting final rosters a month before playing starts. Below you can find the various sports Siegfried participates in, a brief description of the event, and Siegfried's championship successes listed in parentheses.

Interhall Competition
Football
(2002, 2003, 2008, 2009, 2018)
Eleven on Eleven, full pad, tackle football. The championship game is played in Notre Dame Stadium every year. Besides service academies, Notre Dame is the only university in the country to offer full pad, tackle intramural football. Teams play four conference games before the playoffs begin, and the championship game takes place in the stadium.
Cross Country
(2006, 2007, 2009, 2012, 2018)
Halls may enter as many runners as they wish, designating five to score in the traditional Cross Country scoring system. The season consists of three Wednesday 5K (3.1 miles) races on Notre Dame's own golf course.

Baseball

Nine on Nine games lasting six innings. The baseball season is early in the fall with a regular season followed by playoffs.

Dodgeball
(2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019)
Six person teams compete in traditional dodgeball. Games are usually held Sunday nights starting in October. The top four teams participate in the playoffs following the regular season.
Volleyball

Six player teams compete in best 2 out of 3 games. Games 1 and 2 are played to 25, while Game 3 is played to 15 with rally scoring. The championship game is held on the Joyce Center Main Court.
Basketball
(2003, 2004, 2008, 2011, 2015, 2017, 2019)
Five on five games consist of two 20 minute halves. While no dunking is permitted, all other NCAA rules are in effect. The championship is held on the Joyce Center Main Court.

Racquetball

Individuals compete in a bracket-style racquetball tournament. Best 2 out of 3 games to 15. Participants must bring their own racquet or rent one from RecSports.

Tug O' War
(2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019)
Ten on ten matchups consist of 8 minute periods. After every period each team chooses a player on the opposing team to be removed. Games are played on South Quad fields.
Soccer
(2007, 2009, 2013, 2016)
Halls may enter multiple teams to compete in four regular season games and the playoffs. Teams play two 20 minute halves with games usually taking place at night.
Team Racquetball
(2004, 2015, 2016)
Each team plays three singles matches and one doubles match with singles matches worth one point each and the doubles match worth two points. Each match is best 2 out of 3 games to 15. Participants must supply their own racquet or rent one on site.
Bowling
(2000, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2019)
Upperclassmen provide transportation to a local bowling alley for six Monday nights starting in January. Cost per week is roughly $5 for shoes and two games of bowling. Dorms may enter multiple teams with one team designated as the scoring team.
Ice Hockey

Two 20 minute periods; no check league. No personal equipment will be provided. The top four teams participate in the playoffs following the regular season.
Lacrosse
(2009)
Two 20 minute halves. No body checking allowed. Some equipment will be provided to players. The top four teams participate in the playoffs following the regular season.
Team Table Tennis
(2011)
Each team plays three singles matches and one doubles match with singles matches worth one point each and the doubles match worth two points. Best 2 out of 3 games.
Team Tennis
(2013, 2015)
Each team plays three singles matches and one doubles match with singles matches worth one point each and the doubles match worth two points. Each match consists of 8 pro sets or 55 minutes, whichever comes first. Participants must supply their own racquet.
Softball
(2006, 2011)
Nine on nine, slow pitch softball.
Cornhole
(2019)
Teams of two participate in a traditional cornhole game during the Field Day event at the beginning of the year. 2019 marked the inaugural Field Day event, with Siegfried bringing home the daily championship by winning two of the three offered events (cornhole and tug o' war).
Other Athletics
Throughout the year, Notre Dame hosts other athletic opportunities as well. There are events such as the Biathlon (half mile swim and two mile run in early September), Domer Run (5 and 10K races in late September), the Holy Half Marathon (13.1 mile run in late March), and various 5K races sponsored by dorms throughout campus. There are also co-ed intramural events sponsored by RecSports. Bengal Bouts are also a yearly highlight on campus. Men from all dorms gather to train and box one another to raise money for the Holy Cross Missions in Bengladash. Siegfried’s own, Dan Rodgers, was victorious in his weight class in 2007, 2008, and 2009. Look for more information on this early in the school year. There are also intramural fields located just north of Siegfried. Here students can play anything from football to soccer to ultimate frisbee to sand volleyball. We also participate in inter-section two hand touch football, basketball, and e-Sports. Sections compete for glory throughout the fall and spring semesters.
