First-Year resources
Welcome, first-years, to your new residence! During the next few years, Siegfried will be your home.
Whether you are going to Mass, working out in the weight room, hanging out in the lounge, or doing homework in the study rooms, you will be surrounded by peers from all over the world. Throughout the course of Welcome Week, you will meet your fellow Ramblers and be initiated into the illustrious community that is Siegfried Hall. Before moving in and making your mark, however, you should know a few things about your new home.
Freshmen in Siegfried live in two types of rooms: Doubles and Quads. Doubles are single, spacious rooms that house two people. Quads have three rooms: a middle room, commonly used as a lounge area, and two side rooms, each generally housing two people. While Quads overall have more space than doubles, a double is larger than any single room in a quad.
There are several single rooms in Siegfried, but these typically house our senior students. Per Notre Dame rules, an extra fee of $500 is added to room & board to a student who lives in a single. Unlike other dorms, Siegfried residents usually do not have to worry about being forced in a single if no other rooms are left.
