4.2.5 Interjections (Ch. 6)
used to spoken English to show surprise, pleasure, happiness, shock, anger, disgust, and other emotions. They can also be fillers, discourse markers, or silence fillers in conversations.
Examples:
“Oops! I did it again!”
“Ooh, what a lovely dress!”
“Yahoo, we did it!”
“Shh, I can’t hear what he’s saying.”
“We’ve done it! Hurrah!”
“Bravo, Rena! You’re right.”
“Well, so Steve got the job?”
“Oh, how wonderful!”
“Meh, there’s nothing great about it.”
“A seven layer wedding cake? Ooh-la-la!”
