• According to Islamic rules, the Hui people does not eat meat of pigs, horses, donkeys, mule, dogs and all dead animals.
• They also are not allowed to drink the animal blood.
• In some places, some Hui people would not eat seafood.
• Hui people only can eat animals meat that are slaughtered by Imam, otherwise they cannot be eaten.
• Hui people do not smoke or drink alcohol

According to religious regulations, within three days of the birth of a Hui baby, his or her family need to find a Imam to name the baby after a name of one of the sages. The Imam would also chant scriptures to the baby. After the ceremony, Imam would put sweet things such as red dates, white sugar, brown sugar, and rock sugar water to the children.

• The burial is carried out by the Hui people. They do it this way because according to legend, Adan, the ancestor of humans, was created by mud. Thus, when someone dies, he or she would come back to where humans come from.
• The funeral of the Hui people is based on the "three-day burials" of Islam.
• During the burial, Imam would come and pray for the departed.
• Due to the influence of Islam's "burial must be frugal," the Hui people advocates diligence and thrift, and opposes extravagance and waste. Thus, the departed often were covered by a 36-foot white cloth instead of a coffin.
• The Hui people have their own cemeteries, where never allow non-Muslims to bury.
