In order for our system to run smoothly (or at least to have as few bumps in the road as possible), you will need to complete several required mini-quests. Think of these like an orientation to the Media Production lab.
Each of these quests should take you less than a full class period. In its entirety, the Orientation Quest should take you a total of three class periods.
Orientation Quest 1: Creating your learning environment:
- Create your individual course standards tracking document. If you have a tracking document from a previous semester, you may continue to build on that document.
- Take a short quiz to demonstrate your understanding of how the course will operate this semester
Orientation Quest 2: No more carrot or stick
- Moving toward autonomy, mastery, and purpose as the motivators for our class
- Think about your motivational landscape--what are your reasons for taking this class?
Orientation Quest 3: The Rules for the Room & Gear We're going to skip this for the fall of 2020.
You know these already, but at the start of a new semester it is good to review. You must agree (or re-agree) to follow the rules that allow the Media Production Lab to function efficiently and effectively. You will complete a short online quiz about this topic.
Orientation Quest 4: Ira Glass' Advice
Orientation Quest 5: In search of an understanding of creativity
- Create (or update) your vanity card as part of this examination of creativity.
Orientation Quest 6: Mistakes will be made
- The four types of mistakes
Orientation Quest 7: Next Steps
