If this is your second (or third!) time through Advanced Video Production, you will skip this Basics Video and instead concentrate on your first project for the year. Please turn in your Pink Pitch Worksheet (available from the links on the left) by the Pitch Deadline. Because you will be working on something more flexible while first-timers are competing the Basics Video, please touch base occasionally with Ms. Kramer.

If this is your first time in Advanced Video Production, you are going to create a video that demonstrates your understanding of various simple videography and editing practices. You will produce a 2-5 minute long video that does each of the following things:

• Production Company Logo
• Demonstrate these camera operations
  • Camera settings
    • Change of focus;
    • change of white balance;
    • change of exposure
  • Camera movements
    • Zoom,
    • pan,
    • tilt
    • truck,
    • dolly,
    • track
  • Shot types:
    • XLS (establishing)

    • MS

• Knowledge of Composition:
  • Rule of Thirds
    • Good
    • Bad
  • Continuity of Motion

• Video Basics:
  • Backgrounds that don't distract / confuse

    • a dissolve (crossfade),
    • dip through black (fade),
    • and at least three others
