Scope of Client Project

The specific information that the student(s) must know before committing to a project would be:

  • schedule/time line: what are the due dates? Is there a hard deadline that must be met? What is the availability of those person(s) who will be seen on screen?
  • expectations/needs: Video: where do you wish to film? How many different locations?
  • expectations/needs: Audio: What kind of audio are you hoping to have? How many people will be speaking simultaneously and in what type of room? Is there a voice over? Who's voice? Who is writing the voice over? When is that person available to record?
  • expectations/needs: Content: Who will create the script/content? Is the student serving as a video camera operator while another person (preferably picked by the person requesting the video) is making sure that the content needed is covered? Or is the student to appear on screen or ask interview-style questions?
  • editing: how much and what kind of editing are you expecting? Will there be titles or on-screen graphics? Are there still images and/or logos that you wish to have incorporated into the production? Do you have a plan for background music?
  • output: in what format do you need the finished files? Do you need DVDs of the finalized project? If DVDs are required, what type of menu access is needed? Will someone from your firm be uploading it to an online server or is that a task that the student must take on? Do you want the files delivered in any other format (i.e., do you want a copy of the raw footage for potential use in other projects later)?
  • compensation: are you hoping that a student will take on this project in exchange for community service hours or did you have some other compensation in mind?
