Then read the following message from Ms. Kramer:
Ira Glass is not making an excuse for you. He is not saying that you can produce rotten, unprofessional, low-quality videos because you're a beginner.
Instead, he is issuing a challenge. He is saying that if you have good taste in the specific Media that you wish to create (and I believe that you do), then with hard work you can pursue the skills that you will need to make excellent projects that live up to your ideals.
Glass states that you need to produce a ton of content in order to make the leap from novice to expert.
All fields have a learning curve, including video production and film making. For this class, the expectation is that you are going to move along that curve, making progress and improving as you go. The key idea here is that the way to improve your skills is by actually doing and making things.
The unstated part of improving your skills by producing a bunch of work is that you actually have to complete the work that you start in on. The comic below gives some ideas about how to get projects to completion. If you need to utilize these, that's fine. The primary idea here is that:
(1) In AVP, you will create a number of projects to increase your skills.
(2) Sometimes those projects won't be awesome. You will get them done anyway. You will turn them in anyway.
