DP1 Students: IA Engagements!
NOTES
There are things examiners look for (evidenced by markschemes for past papers) that are not explicitly stated in the Paper 2 rubric. These things include...
Definitions of key terms that are relevant to the question
Explanations of relevant aspects of political theories that you use
Explicit use of key concepts (like, you need to specifically identify the concepts.)
When the rubric says you need to "develop" examples, this means...
Provide details - a reference is not enough
Demonstrate a familiarity with the example / case study you are using
What should MDID students focus on...
JUSTIFY your points! Do not expect them to speak for themselves.
Use more than one example in a response. It's ok to return to an example you brought up earlier, but you can convince an examiner that you actually know contemporary examples if you use more than one.
Have a conclusion! Your conclusion should include your own point of view on the question. This is something that was explicitly in the May 2022 markscheme, for every question, so it's worth doing. In a "Discuss" or "Examine" question, it may not seem like this is something you should do, but it seems to be the case.
